What to expect .....
If you have never had reflexology before, you may be a little nervous prior to your first appointment. I aim to put you at your ease and will give you the opportunity to ask me any questions that you may have.
At the beginning of your initial session I will conduct a full consultation. This will give me the opportunity to find out about your medical history, and to discuss your general health, well-being and lifestyle. This will help me to understand what you are trying to achieve from reflexology and enable me to put together a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. You should allow approximately 1 hour 30 minutes for your first session.
Having built up a picture of your current state of health, I will explain how reflexology works and then examine your feet. You will be seated in a special type of comfortable reclining chair called a lafuma. You will never be asked to undress for reflexology. The only clothing you will be asked to remove will be your socks and shoes.
The treatment will start with some gentle relaxation techniques followed by me applying a firm pressure to the reflexes on your feet or hands using my fingers and thumbs.
At the end of your session I will update your records so that improvements can be noted at future appointments and we can discuss your experience. I may also make recommendations or suggestions based on my findings. Total confidentiality is assured at all times and all information recorded will be treated in accordance with the new GDPR Act which came into effect in May 2018.
